"Acupuncture works via nerves, blood vessels, immune system no matter how the new age acupuncturists think it works." |

Question 1: I am a born-again Christian whose physiotherapist has recommended accupuncture as I 'am at a plateau' in becoming better. (I am almost 70 yrs. of age). I am not sure. I have attended seminars which have indicated that it is 'demonic'. A friend says 'the needles are 'prayed over' as they are manufactured and that it is 'New Age', and there is a potential of 'picking up' something not desirable in the life of a Christian. So, I am confused. I did have accupuncture many years ago which 'did nothing' to help or relieve the problem. BUT that was before I attended the seminar. I also had received 'hynosis' which I had to repent of. Can you please help or suggest places to look for more information about the manufacture, etc., etc. It would be greatly appreicated. I do not want to harm my spirit, my soul, or my body. Please help. I need to make a decision in the next two weeks. Answer: That's a common concern. But there's no Biblical basis for such things affecting a Christian negatively or spiritually- even if needles were prayed over... There are only two spiritual forces- God/Jesus/HolySpirit and Satan. Jesus has defeated Satan, and if Jesus is your Lord, the Holy Spirit has sealed you. The main reason Christians get misinformed is a lack of knowledge of the Bible and what it teaches. You should be able to find acupuncturists in your city who, if they are not Christian (and they may not advertise that they are), will be at least neutral on spiritual matters. The main thing is to tell them you're concerned and make sure they don't want to do anything besides talk, acupuncture, and perhaps herbs. Funny I answered a very similar question today already- (see next question) Acupuncture works via nerves, blood vessels, immune system no matter how the new age acupuncturists think it works.
Question 2: Hi, I was diagnosed wi th Chiari I malformation in 2001. There was no CSF flow posteriorly on the right and I was having tremendous headaches, and losing my balance. MRIs from 1998 to 2001 showed that the cerebellar tonsils were continuing to slump into my spinal canal. As a result they had to cauterize the tonsils to save my life, but in so doing affected the central cord/brainstem area. Throughout the day (as many as 5-10 minutes apart) I experience an excrutiating bolt shoot through my head beginning from the back of head and around. The bolt is then followed by tone/spasticity in my right arm that lasts 2-4 minutes. My neurologist has diagnosed me with occipital/trigeminal neuralgia and dystonia in the right arm. I am presently on the (3)seizure medicines, valium prn for spasticity, and Lortab prn for pain. I do not take the last two unless absolutely necessary because I do not want to create a dependence/addiction. My neurologist suggested I try accupunture and I have been reluctant because I have not found one that identifies themselves as Christian. I would like help, but not at the cost of subjecting myself to rituals that are not of God. I was given hope when I found your website, but I could not locate anyone in my area, which is Charleston, SC. Do you know anyone you could recommend? Travel is possible, but affects me physically and we have three boys Ages 12 and twins almost 10. Answer: My parents are in SC- wish I were so I could help- I think But chances are that the more new age ones have been in practice longer- seems the newer students and recently graduated are younger and more medically oriented. I tell people to tell the acupuncturist they're Christian and concerned and just want the acupuncture thank you very much. B |
